100-plus bunkers and MacKenzie-inspired strategy at Legends.

Where Heathland evokes the British Isles and Moorland pushes Pete Dye's design language to its limits, Parkland settles into a more familiar but no less demanding groove: tree-lined corridors that compress landing zones, bunkers positioned at the precise angles where errant shots tend to travel, and green complexes that require a full short-game range to navigate.

The included breakfast and lunch that comes standard at Legends make a round at Parkland feel like an all-day membership rather than a tee time. For golfers building a Legends stay, Parkland is often the day-two course — played after Heathland and Moorland have introduced the property, it rewards the familiarity and settles into a different rhythm entirely.

Caddie's Notes

4 things worth knowing before your round — from tee selection to where to eat when you're done.

01
Course Character & Design
Larry Young modeled Parkland on the classic American parkland architecture of Alister MacKenzie (Augusta National) and George Thomas (Riviera CC), producing the longest of the three Legends courses at 7,159 yards with tree-lined fairways, 100-plus bunkers, and massive multi-tiered greens. It's the most scenic of the Legends trio, with diverse natural terrain and wetland areas that give it a different character than the links-inspired Heathland or the Dye-influenced Moorland next door.
02
Signature Holes
The 100-plus bunkers distributed across 18 holes make every hole visually demanding, but Parkland rewards players who approach it with the strategic patience of a MacKenzie layout rather than swinging for maximum distance. The massive multi-tiered greens, in the MacKenzie tradition, make approach shot placement critical; landing on the wrong tier sets up a genuinely difficult two-putt.
03
Course Conditions
TifEagle Bermuda greens are maintained to a consistent standard across all three Legends courses, and Parkland's wetland and natural terrain areas are preserved rather than manicured, which adds visual character and keeps the course ecologically intact. The shared 30-acre lighted driving range gives Parkland players the same practice facility advantage as Moorland and Heathland guests.
04
Before You Play
Parkland is the best of the three Legends courses for golfers who want length and strategic complexity without the extreme difficulty of Moorland's bulkheads and forced carries. The Legends resort package, which includes complimentary breakfast, lunch, and drinks with on-site lodging, is one of the best all-in golf packages on the Grand Strand; combining all three courses in a stay is well worth considering.

Notable Features
Third course in the Legends Golf Resort trilogy alongside Moorland (P.B. Dye) and Heathland (Tom Doak). Longest of the three at 7,159 yards from the tips. Larry Young's parkland design modeled after classic American parkland architects Alister MacKenzie (Augusta National) and George Thomas (Riviera CC) — resulting in tree-lined fairways, 100+ bunkers, and massive multi-tiered greens. Most scenic of the three Legends courses with diverse natural terrain and wetland areas. Wider and more forgiving off the tee than Moorland; rewards strategic play and approach precision. Opened October 1992. Shared resort amenities: 30-acre lighted driving range, full clubhouse restaurant, Ailsa Pub, on-site lodging. Package includes complimentary breakfast, lunch, and drinks. Managed by Century Golf Partners / Arnold Palmer Golf Management.
