Davis Love III's Lowcountry gem — plantation ruins and Top 100 golf.

Golf Digest ranked the Love Course as the best golf experience in Myrtle Beach — a considerable statement given the competition. Wide fairways invite players to attack, but the green complexes demand a short game that can handle slopes, tiers, and the kind of subtle breaks that look simple until the first three-putt.
The plantation ruins give the course an atmosphere entirely its own: part golf course, part historic landmark, part Lowcountry stage set. Combined with the full Barefoot Resort amenity package and access to three other top-ranked courses, the Love Course anchors one of the strongest multi-course destinations on the East Coast.

4 things worth knowing before your round — from tee selection to where to eat when you're done.
01
Course Character & Design
Davis Love III designed the most approachable of Barefoot Resort's four championship courses, with wide fairways and strategic rather than punitive hazards, but 'golfer-friendly' doesn't mean without teeth. Hazards cut through fairway centers to force genuine tee-shot decisions, and the Pinehurst No. 2-inspired green complexes demand precise approaches rather than relying on the green to gather and funnel shots.
02
Signature Holes
Holes 3 through 7 pass through recreated ruins of a Lowcountry plantation home, giving this stretch a distinctive historic character that sets the Love Course apart visually from its three Barefoot neighbors. The plantation ruins appear as natural features woven into the landscape rather than cartoonish decorations, adding genuine atmosphere to what's already a strong mid-round sequence.
03
Course Conditions
Champion UltraDwarf Bermuda greens are maintained to consistent resort-quality standards across all four Barefoot courses, and the Love Course benefits from differentiated turf in the approach areas (Tif-Sport Bermuda) and rough (419 Bermuda), meaning the transitions between playing surfaces are clear and predictable.
04
Before You Play
If you're playing multiple Barefoot courses in one trip, start with the Love Course to find your footing before taking on the Fazio or Dye. The wide fairways reward aggressive driving, but the green complexes are where the course makes its real demands, spend time on the practice green before your round. Barefoot Resort on-site accommodations, including the Dye Club Cottages, make this a natural stay-and-play destination, and replay rounds are available, unusual for a course at this price point.
