The Norman Course completes one of the most ambitious multi-course destinations on the East Coast, sitting alongside Tom Fazio's, Davis Love III's, and Pete Dye's designs within a single resort complex. Of the four, Norman's is the most accessible in feel, favoring wide landing areas and a pace of play that rewards players who trust their swings and enjoy the scenery.
Waterway views on the back nine are among the most consistent on the Grand Strand, and the Norman Course's combination of natural setting, championship pedigree, and resort accessibility makes it the right starting point for first-time Barefoot visitors before they step up to the Dye Course's more demanding test.

4 things worth knowing before your round — from tee selection to where to eat when you're done.
01
Course Character & Design
Greg Norman's Signature course is the most visually unusual of Barefoot Resort's four layouts, only 60 acres of mowable grass across all 18 holes, with Norman's proprietary GN-1 hybrid turf fairways and 59 soft sand bunkers creating an aesthetic unlike anything else on the Carolina coast, spare, sandy, and more reminiscent of a Southwest desert course than a Lowcountry layout. The out-and-back routing never returns to the clubhouse at the turn, and a shuttle is required to reach the shared driving range.
02
Signature Holes
The par-3 10th is the Norman Course's showpiece: it plays directly over the Intracoastal Waterway with panoramic water views that rival anything on the Grand Strand. Seven holes total frame the Intracoastal, giving the back-nine routing a sustained drama that the inland holes can't match.
03
Course Conditions
Champion UltraDwarf Bermuda greens are maintained to resort standard. The Norman Course's most distinctive conditioning feature is intentional minimalism, the smallest mowable grass footprint of any Barefoot course means the property emphasizes strategic sandy waste areas and the natural transition between turf and sand rather than manicured rough and fairway margins.
04
Before You Play
Norman designed the course around bump-and-run play around the greens, the small, subtly moving putting surfaces reward creative short game over pure distance, which makes it a wonderful course for golfers who grew up playing links-style golf. Factor in the shuttle to the driving range when planning your arrival time. If you're playing multiple Barefoot courses, the Norman's minimalist desert-meets-waterway aesthetic provides the sharpest contrast to the lush Fazio and Love courses.

Greg Norman Signature design — fourth and last of the four Barefoot Resort courses to open (2000), joining Dye, Love, and Fazio, all of which opened in 2000. Only 60 acres of mowable grass across all 18 holes — most minimal turf of any Barefoot course. Fairways of proprietary GN-1 hybrid turf developed by Greg Norman Turf. 59 soft sand bunkers. Seven holes along the Intracoastal Waterway; signature par-3 10th plays directly over the waterway with panoramic views. Course designed around Norman's philosophy of 'bump and run' shots around the greens — small, subtly moving greens reward creative short game. Visually resembles Southwest desert courses without the desert. Out-and-back routing — does not return to clubhouse at turn. Shuttle required to access shared driving range. Part of the internationally awarded Barefoot Resort with 4 distinct signature-design courses.
