Three consecutive par-3s — holes six, seven, and eight — form one of the most unusual and memorable stretches in Grand Strand golf, demanding complete precision with short irons across three distinct challenges before the round opens back up. Steep-faced bunkers and natural elevation changes add drama that belies the coastal flatness found elsewhere in the area.
Golf Digest's Top 100 Public designation reflects the course's uncommon attention to detail and visual coherence. Nestled between the Dye and Love courses in the Barefoot complex, the Fazio Course rewards those who seek it out with a quieter, more contemplative version of championship golf.

4 things worth knowing before your round — from tee selection to where to eat when you're done.
01
Course Character & Design
Tom Fazio's contribution to Barefoot Resort is the most visually dramatic of the four, 90-plus bunkers with steep sod-face walls, water on 15 of 18 holes, and a European-style out-and-back routing that never returns to the clubhouse at the turn. Nestled between the Dye and Love courses with no residential intrusion on the sightlines, the Fazio plays in a world of its own.
02
Signature Holes
The par-71 layout is deceptive: it plays 200-plus yards longer than the scorecard suggests due to severe elevation changes and strategically placed hazards that extend effective carry distances. Water on 15 of 18 holes means there's rarely a hole where a stray shot finds safe ground, the bunkers and water work together to create a course that demands management as much as power.
03
Course Conditions
Champion UltraDwarf Bermuda greens are consistent with the resort-wide standard. The Fazio's most distinctive conditioning characteristic is its sod-face bunkers, they're maintained true to Fazio's original design intent and play very differently from the raked sand found elsewhere on the Strand, requiring a clean, steep strike to escape.
04
Before You Play
Don't underestimate the effective yardage, club up more aggressively than the scorecard suggests on approach shots with elevation drops, and club down on elevated greens. The Fazio has hosted Canadian Tour events, so the design has proven itself at a professional level. Bring extra balls if you're prone to stray shots; water on 15 holes leaves little margin.
