Named Myrtle Beach Golf Course of the Year in 2011 and ranked among South Carolina's Top 30 Courses You Can Play in both 2009 and 2011, the Founders Club has built a reputation grounded in conditions and accessibility. Unrestricted cart access throughout the waste areas means golfers can position themselves anywhere within the sandy expanses — a freedom that changes strategy on nearly every hole.

Long-leaf pines, live oaks, and the absence of cart paths from most of the layout give the Founders Club a natural, unmanicured feel that contrasts with the precision of the greens and fairways. It is a course that rewards repeated play, where the subtleties of the waste areas and the green contours reveal themselves slowly over multiple rounds.

Caddie's Notes

4 things worth knowing before your round — from tee selection to where to eat when you're done.

01
Course Character & Design
Built on the site of the former Sea Gull Golf Club (1966, the fourth-oldest course on the Grand Strand), Thomas Walker, a former Gary Player lead designer, completely reimagined the flat original layout in 2008 into a visually dramatic sandy-waste course. There's no traditional rough anywhere on the property: massive natural beach-sand waste areas frame every hole instead, and cart paths are eliminated because the waste areas themselves serve as driving surfaces.
02
Signature Holes
The par-4 14th is the signature: a dogleg right with expansive waste bunkers requiring precise drive placement, lay up short of the hazard or commit to carrying it. The absence of rough across all 18 holes means every errant shot finds sand rather than grass, demanding creative recovery play through native grasses and bluestem throughout the round.
03
Course Conditions
Bermuda greens are well-maintained for Founders Club's value-tier pricing. The course's most distinctive conditioning characteristic is intentional: no traditional rough, no cart paths, waste areas maintained as natural sandy surfaces. This is a design statement as much as a maintenance approach, and it gives the course a look and feel unlike anything else in the Founders Group International portfolio.
04
Before You Play
At $90 per round, Founders Club is one of the best values on the South Strand, particularly for golfers who enjoy creative, recovery-oriented play over pure stroke-and-distance precision. No driving range on-site, so plan to arrive with your game warmed up or use a nearby facility first.

Notable Features
Built on the site of the former Sea Gull Golf Club (1966 — fourth oldest course on the Grand Strand). Thomas Walker (former Gary Player lead designer) completely redesigned the flat original layout in 2008 into a visually dramatic sandy-waste course. No traditional rough — massive natural beach sand waste areas frame every hole instead. No cart paths — waste areas serve as driving surfaces. No rough means errant shots stay in play but face creative recovery shots through sand and native grasses (love grass, bluestem). Par-4 14th is signature hole: dogleg right with expansive waste bunkers requiring precise drive placement. Part of Founders Group International 20+ course portfolio (same group as TPC Myrtle Beach, Grande Dunes, King's North, etc.). Christian Yanoski, General Manager.
