Dramatic elevation and Postage Stamp homage in Indio's foothills

Clive Clark is best known for his work in the UK, and that background shows at Eagle Falls in the best possible way — the elevation changes and terrain drama he created are unlike anything else available on a public green fee in the eastern valley. The complete absence of residential development from the course sightlines is rare at any price point and creates a focus that the typical desert layout, ringed by housing and cart paths, simply can't replicate. The par-3 6th is a deliberate architectural homage to the Postage Stamp at Royal Troon — short by yardage, severe by consequence — and plays shorter than it looks due to the downhill terrain. Stay-and-play packages with the adjoining 250-room Fantasy Springs hotel make this a logical eastern-valley base for golfers who want to pair Eagle Falls with Terra Lago or the PGA West complex without the La Quinta pricing.

Caddie's Notes

4 things worth knowing before your round — from tee selection to where to eat when you're done.

01
Course Character & Design
Clive Clark brought his British design sensibility to the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino property, creating elevation changes and terrain drama that are genuinely rare for a public desert layout. The course cuts through natural hillside terrain with no homes or structures visible from the fairways — an increasingly uncommon feature in the Coachella Valley. Clark's background shows in the way the holes use elevation rather than water as the primary strategic element, though water features appear on several holes to add variety.
02
Signature Holes
The par-3 6th is designed as a deliberate homage to the Postage Stamp at Royal Troon — a short hole with severe consequences for anything offline. The elevation changes throughout the round create tee shots where the visual perspective can be deceiving — trust the yardage book over your eyes on several approach shots. The overall routing uses the hillside terrain to create genuinely varied shot shapes that most desert courses can't offer.
03
Course Conditions
Tifdwarf Bermuda greens are maintained to a standard appropriate for the price point — solid but not competing with the premium PGA West or Indian Wells surfaces. The elevation changes mean different parts of the course get different wind and sun exposure, which can create surprisingly variable conditions within the same round. The natural terrain drains well.
04
Before You Play
Carts are required — the elevation changes make this a non-walking course regardless of policy. The grass driving range and short game area are on-site but no formal instruction program. The real value play here is the stay-and-play package with Fantasy Springs Resort Casino — the 250-room hotel is adjacent, and the casino, dining, and entertainment complex make it a full-experience destination rather than just a golf trip. Green fees run $65–$125, making this one of the better values in the valley for course quality.
